2012 SATs Papers

In 2012, SATs tests were given to children in Year 2 (KS1 SATs) and Year 6 (KS2 SATs).

2012 KS2 SATs Papers

The 2012 KS2 SATs took place in the week commencing 12th May 2012. The tests took place over four days.

Children in Year 6 (those aged 10-11) took these tests in their normal school classrooms (in the UK). SATs papers were taken in Maths, Reading and GaPS under formal exam conditions. These papers were marked externally whilst separate teacher assessments in Writing and Science were marked by their teachers.

The 2012 Year 6 SATs featured minor tweaks to the Reading paper. These included three unrelated texts with entirely isolated questions. In previous Key Stage 2 SATs tests, the texts would be in some way related and the questions would ask children to compare them.

To help prepare children for the 2012 KS2 SATs, children were able to download KS2 SATs Papers from previous years.

Each school's results were made available to their headteachers in July 2012 via the NCA tools website. Every school's performance was then made public in December 2012 to create the 2012 school league tables.

If you are interested in seeing how your child's school performed in the 2012 SATs then look at the Department for Education (DfE) website that maintains up to date and historical school league tables.

2012 KS1 SATs Papers

The 2012 KS1 SATs took place at a time convenient to every school throughout May 2012. The tests would have likely taken place over 3-4 days. Children in Year 2 (aged 6-7) took these tests in their normal school classrooms. KS1 SATs papers were taken in Maths and Reading under fairly informal conditions. These papers were set and marked by (but not necessarily authored by) their teachers.

To help prepare children for the 2012 KS1 SATs, children were able to download past KS1 SATs Papers from previous years.
